This course introduces the work of legendary acting teacher Uta Hagen and her practical approach to truthful performance. We’ll explore how Hagen used observation, substitution, personal connection, object work, and specific circumstances to help actors stop “performing emotion” and start living honestly within a scene. Through her questions and exercises, actors learn how to build believable characters, pursue clear objectives, and create natural behavior that works on stage and on camera. This is ideal for actors who want a grounded, disciplined method for making their performances more specific, personal, and real.
